Tell us a little about yourself…

I’m 23, born and raised on the Big Island. Majored in Kinesiology in college, currently work for Paradise Helicopters. I’m planning to go back to school again but am enjoying the break right now.

How long have you been running?

I’ve been running since I can remember but I started competitively running in high school and began running for fun in college.

Please list your favorite races and PRs

London Marathon & Seawheeze Lululemon Half-marathon

(These are my favorite because they were both the first time I ran these distances!)

What are your 2019 Racing plans and running goals?

My running goal is to get my 2020 BQ time at the Vancouver Marathon this summer,  I’ve only ran one marathon so it’s a bit of a lofty goal.

I get to spectate the Boston Marathon this year which i’m excited for! My boyfriend is racing, so I think that’ll be a good motivator before my marathon.

Any “bucket list” races?

All the Marathon Majors

Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc

What is your average weekly mileage?

Currently averaging 19, but I’m at the early stages of marathon training so ask me again in 3 months.

What is your favorite workout?

Trail Running!

Favorite pre-race/post-race foods

I don’t like eating before I run, but it would be great if I could have an ice cold pellegrino & an endless supply of sushi waiting for me at the finish.

What is the piece of running gear/food/drink that you cannot go without?

Potatoes, tracksmith shorts and nuun infused water.

What is your favorite running moment or running quote?

“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.” – Born to Run.

Describe your running before HRL and after

I’ve never been on a running plan or had a coach for running, so I’d say this is the most fun i’ve had with running.

Why does training with Hawaii Running Lab work for you?

It helps to not have to worry about what to do. Boston has become a dream-goal, and having the support from Michael has made it an enjoyable process.

There aren’t any coaches on the Big Island specific to running, so I was excited to find something that worked so well from a Hawaii based business.
