Tell us a little about yourself…

I am Rebekah. Retired Soldier, Wife, and Mother! I am 39 years young and have lived on Oahu since August 2014. I am originally from Salt Lake City Utah. I have a 15 year old son and a 3 year old son. I am avid reader, art lover, football fan, and love seeking out new foods and countries. I love to travel and be outdoors!

How long have you been running?

I have been running my whole life! However, I didn’t start racing until 2005 and completed my first Marathon in Ediburgh Scotland in 2006.

Please list your favorite races and PR’s

My favorite distance in the 10K and 13.1. I PRd last year at the Hibiscus with a 1:57.

What are your 2017 Racing plans and running goals?

My marathon days are over, but this year I do plan to make 13.1 and 10K my best races ever. I would love to PR on the Hapalua but I will be happy with a finishing time on that course. Last 4 miles are challenging for sure. =)

Any “bucket list” races?

Hmmmmm I would love to run a race on every continent eventually. Perhaps a trip to New Zealand is in my future and maybe even China! Great Wall would be incredible. =)

What is your average weekly mileage?

I average 15-20 on a good week

What is your favorite workout?

As crazy as this sounds I love running up hills. To me, it’s a true test of endurance and strength.  After all, if I can run up a hill I can do anything!

Favorite pre-race/post-race foods

Can I say everything? Kidding. I love bagels with organic natural PB and bananas. I am also a fan of sweet potatoes.

What is the piece of running gear/food/drink that you cannot go without?

My altras hands down my favorite shoe ever

What is your favorite running moment or running quote?

“Running is nothing more than a series of arguments between the part of your brain that wants to stop and the part that wants to keep going.”

Describe your running before HRL and after

My running before HRL was casual and riddled with injury. I had plateaued and had many doctors tell me that I was done running because of my knees. Mike came along and we implemented strength training in to my schedule and I am now running farther and faster than ever.

Why does training with Hawaii Running Lab work for you?

I love the flexibility an availability Coach Mike has. His services are not only affordable, but he is always there to answer questions and motivate you when you have a bad day. And we all have bad days!

Anything else that you would like to add?

I love this organization! Thank you Mike and crew for being so amazing!
